Johnny Blancher grew up with family in Lafayette and Vermilion Parish. His mother was related to Sheriff McWilliams, and he had plenty of cousins in the area. Johnny’s father was a baseball player in college who met his mother while playing at Northwestern State in Natchitoches. They became friends with Al Lopez, a Realtor at Keaty Real Estate, and kept in touch over the years.

Fast forward to Hurricane Katrina, and Johnny’s family evacuated to Lafayette, where they had family. They ended up staying with his uncle and his 15 other family members and dogs. During their time in Lafayette, they saw Al Lopez driving around and stopped to say hello. Al suggested that Johnny and his family check out Rock N’ Bowl, which was under construction at the time. They did, and Johnny fell in love with the place.

Johnny eventually became the owner of Rock N’ Bowl and has been a major force in the revitalization of downtown Lafayette. He’s now bringing his vision to Convent and Lee, a mixed-use development that will feature over 200 residential units. This new development will be a catalyst for downtown Lafayette and is expected to transform the area.
